Sketch Challenge 593 – So Cool

Sketch challenge 593 from My Favorite Things is a fairly simple one that really would work perfectly for a scene. However I have been wanting to play with the SPECtacular stamp set. And while I was putting away the stamp pile on my desk from last weeks creations, I picked up the You’re My Sunshine and saw the cute cat with the glasses and realised it would work perfectly with the SPECtacular stamp set.

So instead of doing a scene I just used the glasses from SPECtacular stamp set and creating my own background with Lazy Day ink over Lazy Day and Smooth White card stock. Stamping the Be Cool sentiment from the SPECtacular stamp set on a Lazy Day card stock flag in Lazy Day Ink and adding some dimension with my white gel pen. And adding that to the left on the card, then adding the Copic colored cat on the right. And to finish it off I added some self-adhesive crystals sprinkled around the card.

If you want to see more of my sketch challenge entries, you can find them HERE

Do you like me have loads of 6×6 pattern paper pads? These little origami boxes are super easy to make and takes one sheet of double sided pattern paper. They are super fun to make and I just couldn’t stop myself and have at least 10 of them laying on my table. As usual when making boxes I have a schema below that you can use together with the video tutorial. And if you want to see more box videos you can see all I have HERE.

Realtime Coloring & Chat | Mermaid Edition

It is May and that means Mermay, and I couldn’t not color a mermaid in may. This video is inspired by Stephen Kropf and his 30 day challenge that he is doing at the moment. He colored up an image by Annie Rodrigue, so I headed over to her etsy store and picked up a mermaid from her digital stamp section. I ended picking up loads of different mermaids from different etsy stores. You can find the mermaid I used HERE.

So I decided to make a realtime coloring video and do a little bit of chatting with you. I chat about what coloring means to me and why I rarely make coloring videos at the moment.

Sketch Challenge 592 – Thank you

It’s Monday and I’m here with another entry for the My Favorite Things sketch challenge. This week it is sketch challenge 592. It is a great sketch, well balanced and easy to work with.

My process this week started with the Thank You sentiment die. I saw it laying on my craft table and I wondered if it could fit the sketch. So I cut it out to measure it on the card base and then it started to come together. This sketch has three bubbles, with the thank you sentiment being one I was wondering what to add as the other too. I remembered that I had a pile of colored images in the living room (I do most of my coloring at my sofa) with two little bees. So I picked up the pile and added the bees to the card. I felt it was a little bit to empty, so I added the tree behind the thank you sentiment, it was now coming together. The last part of the sketch is a rectangle that looks like it runs around the card with a opening on the left hand side. As the images was colored with pencils very softly, I wanted the background to be soft too. So I went with my favorite technique, smooching, and used distress inks for it, i did do a little bit of splatters just to break up the color a little bit.

Did you like this way of explaining my thought process through out making the card? Also if you want to see more of my sketch challenge entries, you can find them all HERE.

Sketch Challenge 591 | Fairy Special Day

Working against a challenge is a great way to both inspire and challenge yourself. So I thought why not double up! So for todays card I both follow the My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge 591 and Color Challenge 188. The colors in the challange where, Princess Pink, Cotton Candy, Ripe Raspberry and Sour Apple and the sketch challenge looked like a landscape. So I decided to make a pink sunset where the fairies could dance around a beautiful tree. Hope you enjoy the card, if you wanna see more cards that I made that follow challenges you can find them HERE.

Baby Basket Tutorial

When creating the Easter Basket earlier this month I had in the back of my mind that this would be perfect as a Baby Basket. Perfect to hold a little gift for a mother to be, or as party gift for attending people at a baby shower. I had so much fun choosing the pattern papers and matching card stock for this project. Below you can find a video Baby Basket Tutorial and a schema with measurements for cutting and scoring for the baby basket. If you want to see more baskets and boxes you can find all I have made HERE.

You can find a PDF of above schema HERE.

Flamboyance of Flamingos | Card Tutorial

Did you know that a group of flamingos is called a flamboyance? Flamboyance, what a wonderful word! This card was inspired by flamingos, I recently found out that one of my siblings love flamingos, so I decided to make a birthday card! And when I think of flamingos I see in my mind those big watery fields that they wade through. So I wanted to make a flamboyance of flamingos.

I started by coloring and cutting out a lot of flamingos, I chose to go with the flamingo from Paradise Pals stam set. And also the smaller flamingo that came with the Top of the World stamp set as I felt they would work great for baby flamingos! I also colored five palm trees to help building a scene.

I then did my favorite smooching technique to make some hills and some water features. And put the card together. It was a real fun card to make and I hope you like it and like the video tutorial.

Sketch Challenge 590 | Make Waves

The sketch challenge 590 is out on My Favorite Things. I had saved the Bubbly Birthday for May but this sketch was just too perfect for them to not use them. I colored one of them and then combined the mermaid with the Island Shell-ebration stamp set as they go so good together!

For the background I used my favorite ink color Sno Cone and blended it over the Classic Edges Stencil in a square that I masked out with the background die from the Blueprints 27 and some masking paper. I did buy the Classic Edges Stencil to use it for waves. I also added some splatters in Caribbean Sea Ink, Cornflower Ink, White Gesso and some Silver Shimmering Water color for texture. Not sure about that choice, but I’m ok with it.

I finished it off with my usual white heat embossed sentiment on colored cardstock. This time I choose to go with the Summer Splash Cardstock and I love the contrast. If you want to see the other my favorite sketch challenges I have entered you can find them HERE.

Origami Corner Bookmark Tutorial

I had so much fun making these origami corner bookmarks. They are quick and easy and don’t even need tapes or glues. After you made a few you will not stop making these, well I didn’t stop. I have made about 10 of them so far but I know I will be making more.

The bookmarks are an easy fold and you can make three out of one sheet of 6×6 paper. I do recommend using thinner paper as there is a couple of folds and thicker paper will be harder to fold, and the last piece that you end up sticking into the bookmark can be very hard to bend if the paper is of the thicker varient.

I ended up decorating a couple of these with some small stamps, and I think they ended up being adorable! The stamps are from the latest release by My Favorite Things and if you want to see more things I have made with the release you can find them HERE.
