Slimline Inside & Outside Card | Adorable Adventures

When I saw the Adorable Adventures stamp set I knew I needed it and that it would be awesome for so many occasions. The card that I made today has been growing in my mind for weeks. It wasn’t until I saw the Slimline Challenge – Inside-Out that it fully came together, however I did interpret the challenge wrong so I won’t be able to enter it in the challenge. But hey that’s ok, this card is awesome on it’s own.

As I said the idea has had time to sit with me. A couple of weeks ago I picked out the stamps I wanted to use. I created small piles on my counter (in my almost done craft room, while make a tour as soon as I have the rest done), where I added some card stock, dies and the stamp sets for the cards. I tried to make every pile different in both kind of card but also color scheme.

This card was on the next list but I ended up adding others before just because limited season and similar reasons (like the Spring Gnomes one). But I finally dived in. But I really feel it was a good decision, as I allowed myself to think about it and really get a solid idea for it.

I wanted to build a scene, but at the same time allowing the background to be a little bit diffuse so that the character and the other stamps really pops. So I’ve used one of my favorite techniques, which is ink smooching, specifically doing this with light neutral Distress Inks allowing a lot of the white of the watercolor paper to be seen. I used Weather Wood, Pumice Stone, Shabby Shutters, Iced Spruce and the oh so gorgeous Speckled Egg, on some Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I made two pieces of 3 1/2″ by 8 1/2″ so that I could use the Slimline Slide In die and cut the tag from one of them and the slide in belly band on the other, which I cut down to 3 1/4″ by 8 1/4″.

I then created the scene on the tag, a little forest on the left side with a tent and a character. On the right side I built a mountain scene with another character. On the little belly band on the main piece I added a little circle (from another ink smooched piece in just the green colors) and on top of that the sign stamp that I colored like wood and then white embossed happy birthday.

I built a similar scene on the inside on top of a 3 1/4″ by 8 1/4″ piece of white neenah. However I mixed stamping just the outlines in Milk Chocolate ink and adding some of the left over copic colored images. I left the middle empty to have somewhere to write a message. You could also write a secret message on the backside of the tag on the outside also.

I loved making this card, hope you liked watching the videos too!

3 Mini Easter Cards/Tag | MFT Spring Gnomes

I have been in a pastel kind of mood lately, and that is perfect for easter cards. In the tutorial below I show how I made three mini easter cards using the Spring Gnomes stamp set by My Favorite Things. Well to be honest they are two cards and one tag but that would be a very long title.

With these cards I continue to use the Lemon Chiffon card stock and ink, and for being a person that doesn’t really like the color yellow the Lemon Chiffon has gotten a ot of playing time. I did look to see if I could use another color but at this time I didn’t have another pastel card that would work with the rest of the color scheme. Which I for once picked out first, so there was no going back on that. But I’m quite happy about my choice as it worked perfect for the tag and the Sunrise Radiating Rays Stencil I used with it.

I Carrot About You So Much Card

I love making small square cards, they are quick and cute. The first card measure 3 3/4″ by 3 3/4″. The size is based on the biggest of the stitched square STAX dies. For the base layer I used a lemon chiffon square cut with that die. I then used my blender brush, the Basket Weave stencil and the coordinating ink to give the layer some texture.

For the sentiment I used my Mini Misti to double stamp the sentiment “I Carrot About You So Much” onto some Neenah with the Lemon Chiffon ink. I double stamped to get a little bit of a darker color so that it would show up nicely. Then I cut it out with a die from the Blueprints 27 Die set. I ran the die through my die cutter twice to give the sentiment two flag ends. I then added my Gnome above the sentiment and sprinkled a couple of the carrot stamps around to add a little bit more to the card.

Juggling Spring Gnome Card

My second card is a 3″ by 3″ card. When I saw the little Gnome that was holding two eggs, I knew I wanted to make him a juggler. The easiest way to add the rest of the eggs in a circle was to give him a circular backdrop. So I cut a scalloped circle out of some Gift Wrap 6×6 paper. I choose a light blue green tone that wouldn’t take over to much. I added the circle on the top half of the card and a sentiment at the bottom. Then placed the gnome resting on top of the sentiment and the little eggs following the scalloped circle.

Radiating Tag

The last card, which really is a tag, is another ink blended one. I again used the Lemon Chiffon card stock and ink and blended with my blending brush. This time using the Sunrise Radiating Rays Stencil, placing it so that the gnome would have the sun in his back and the rays coming out all around him. I cut the tag out with the Tag Builder 5 dies. I finished off the card with a sentiment strip under the gnomes feet and a couple of length of string and ribbon to make the tag a little longer and get some more texture and color. Hope you liked my cards and tag and that you learned something new from my tutorial. Happy Easter!

Pattern Paper Diagonal Cut Technique | Cute Lil Angel | Christmas In August

Hi Everyone, here with a new card and video tutorial. Todays video is all about a pattern paper diagonal cut background technique that produces two backgrounds in one go, and I’ll show you two different ways of making these into cards.

For the first card I’m using Cute Lil Angel and coloring her with my copic markers in some different yet very christmasy way. I combine her together with a stamped sentiment from Simon Says Stamp, and then put the background on a white Neenah cardbase.

For the second card I’m using the Merry Word Chipboard and the Christmas Word Chipboard as my sentiment and focal image. I really love the layering with these chipboard pieces making it stand out from even the busiest backgrounds.

Hope you enjoy the cards! Have you started creating your Christmas Cards to get a head start before December is rolling in?
