Today I have a card and a video for you, this post is all about those cast shadows and I go through in the video how I thought about my cast shadows. Cast Shadows is the challenge over at Make It Colourful this month, so come on over and join us! I really like how the cast shadows on the witches tummy from the handle looks, I’m not as happy with the one on the ground, it’s to far down on the paper and a little to much near the center. A while ago I bought some Faber Castel Polychromos pencils, but I haven’t used them that much so I decided that for the card today I would, but colouring with copics goes so much faster. So I went for something in between, I’m using some Neenah cardstock as it is good for both copics and pencils. The Make It Crafty cardstock I usually use for colouring with copics have to little “teeth” for me to get good results with my polys (which could just be me as I’m very new to them). I knew I just needed to use Marley Blooms and doesn’t that flower look awesome with those pencils creating some extra depth. I didn’t keep track on the pencils used but you have the copic listed down below.

The new challenge over at Make It Colourful this month is Cast Shadows, it’s a really fun challenge as most things casts a shadow and this is a good way of practising finding where the light is. The creation I did this time isn’t really a card, it’s just colouring, and that is the nifty thing about these challenges, you don’t need to make a card, you can just colour to your hearts content. I like how this image turned out, but every time I pass it on my table I feel that it needs something more. So today you get the coloured image, and in a couple of days you are getting a video of the colouring and hopefully an updated image where I added some more details to the background, kind of kicking it up a notch.

When I saw this image I just new I needed to colour her hair in all of the colours, Zoes card got my thinking about red, white and blue, so thats the hair she got. Happy 4th of July to all you americans out there.

For my card today I have coloured this adorable Chester Rainbow by Little Miss Muffet Stamps, I choose to make the rainbow very simple without any shading to make it really look like its painted on. As you might see down in the copic list I have used a lot of colours on his pants. I started out with the bg colours but felt that it was to green and to little blue, so I went over them with B12 and then used B26 and B24 to strengthen the shadows. I really love how it turned out in the end, just the right amount of blue and green, so don’t be afraid to go over with totally other colours to make your own colours.

I have another Little Blue Button Stamps card for you today, another cute character sitting by a table so I made a similar card like last time, but this time in landscape and some different papers and it makes a big difference. I didn’t see that the speech bubble got more over the cat then Charlie until I edited the photos, but it makes the card kind of hilarious, I love it.

There have been loads going on in the Make It Crafty Facebook group this month, not only do we have the two regular challenges going, Light through the trees for the colouring challenge and the clean and simple challenge which is using masks. There have been a small weekend challenge where you got a freebie to use for the challenge (a gorgeous mermaid) but Zoe has a fourth challenge which runs to the end of the month which is Christmas Themed cards, and you get a gorgeous freebie to play along, Fairy Twinkles.
