For the past few months I’ve been, due to health issues, struggling with my creativity. So right now I’m entering all the challenges I can find to get my creative juices flowing. Todays shaker tag and video is thanks to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, which is “Create with critters”, where I’m using the new mini stamp set stinking cute by Lawn Fawn and also thanks to the color throwdown challenge blog which have a colour combination challenge of aqua, pink and kraft.

I love how this kit contained so much goodies from Doodlebug Designs and how perfect all of the Little Miss Muffet Stamps go with them, it’s like they are best friends, which is why I enter this card in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge with the theme of Best Friends.

So when I learned that this bi-weekly challenge over at lawnscapings was Watercolour I knew I wanted to play along, but I was a little bit divided, I have a little watercolour set I bought a couple of months ago that I still haven’t used, but I also just reorganized my distress inks. I ended up playing with the distress inks. I might have gotten a little bit carried away with my drops but I had loads of fun creating this.

One of the things that I do in my life with everything, is trying to improve. And todays card is sort of an improvement on yesterdays, the background that is. I loved how the background turned out yesterday but I felt it missed depth, the depth you get when you use multiple colours. So today I used two colours for the smudging and 4 colors for the splatter. Todays card is also my inspiration card for the Make It Colourful colouring challenge, which is feathers. This is one I longed to get to do as I love birds and I had alot of fun colouring this cute little Robin. My colouring tip for doing feathers is flicking, loads of small flicks.

Today I have a clean and simple card, I must be honest for the past couple of weeks I’ve been struggling with my creativity the idea I get don’t really turn out the way I want. But I found something that work, when I don’t “feel” a card I leave it for awhile and go and do something else. Then when I come back I’m no longer in the middle of it and can have another “eye” at it sort of. I did this with this card, the first idea was to make a paper pattern card as I usually do, but I didn’t “feel it”, so I went away and cross stitch for awhile (and watch some criminal tv series, love those) and when I came back it just hit me, I need to make a splatter background with Abandoned Coral and I need to use some die cut sentiment. And it just came together, I really love the result.

I love makeing tags with the Little Miss Muffet Stamps, I actually started this out thinking I would make a card, but the base I did just didn’t work with the image. So I left it on my craft table and did other things for awhile. While away I remebered the December card kit from Simon Says Stamp, and realized that they where a perfect match. I’m trying to get to my old schedule, so today is Friday and time for another craft video. This is one of those projects that took several days to complete, which you can see in the video as I have different nail polish, but it was so much fun! It’s a decorative kleenex box which you can put a note in for the recipient but he/she also can have on while using the box.
