I’ve been aching to try out my new printer with water colouring, having bought a new epson that uses the waterproof durabrite inks, that actually works with copics too! As it is a colour printer I knew I just had to print the lines in colour. So I printed them in dark brown to make it soft and then coloured it in distress ink. The image I used is called Dream Catcher and is part of the latest release for Little Blue Button Stamps. I also dipped in my new liquitex ink for the copper beads.
Time for another release for Little Blue Button Stamps, there are 4 new digital stamps and they are awesome! I have played with Panda with Balloon, isn’t he adorable!
I’ve been asked to do a skin tutorial, and while I’m working on that (which will take some time) I thought I would do a mini version. So in todays card video I’m doing some real time colouring of skin with some commentary and then I also show you how I put the card together. The stamp I’m using today is a newly released digital stamp by Little Miss Muffet Stamp called Tanzen, she is a polka dot pals character which means she comes with out nose and mouth, so today I’m trying out a new way of giving her dimension with out adding in those features. I’ve recently coloured my own hair turquoise so just had to colours her that colour too.
You know me I love me mermaids, I could colour mermaids all day long! So todays video is another mermaid by Make It Crafty, but today I wanted to make her have a darker skin tone and also a beautiful grey/purple hair. If you want to see the rest of my mermaid videos you can see them in my playlist that I made for you mermaid lovers out there. Todays background is inspired by a whole bunch of artist out there, the idea of framing the image with our harsh lines which makes the image pop more than if I would have had harsh delimiters. I had so much fun colouring this one, experimenting with both colours and background, looking forward to doing many more.
Sometimes a card comes to life when you just want to colour a specific image with some very specific colours. I’ve been on a teal and peach kick, just love colouring with those colours. And ofcourse I had to do it on the new Driffoxie as I just love that litte hairy dragon/unicorn/thingy, isn’t it adorable! But as always with my video I want you to be able to learn something, so todays video is about colouring shadows.
So I’ve been watching loads of art youtube, seeing these wonderful creators create something just starting with pen and paper is inspiring! One of the things that really caught my eye was different coloured outlines, and I thought Hey! I can do that with stamps.
So I started out with what is called No-Line Colouring, it’s been around for a couple of years now and it’s something my friend Zoe started. The idea is to stamp in a very light ink and when you colour the image the lines sort of disappear. But it was coloured lines we wanted, right? Well after colouring my images with my copics, I went over the lines with faber castell polychromos, if you have multiliners in different colours you could use that, but I sort of loved the softness of using the coloured pencils. You could also use ink in different colours, if you have that but then it would be harder to get all the differences, like having blue around the spots on the purple monster.
I do have a small warning tho, if you use the copic markers on top of the pencils you will “melt” them and that can add residue on your marker tips and you might need to change them. So I always do the coloured pencils last so I don’t damage my copic nibs.
This months clean and simple card challenge over at Make It Crafty is Acetate! And even though I use it in my card often, love doing shakers, at first it was a little challenging, to figure out what to do. So I started with the image, which I did in two settings as I just didn’t know what to use for her hair! But I do love how it came out. When it came to acetate my fellow DTs had loads of ideas, you should really head over to the challenge post and while you are there join in! This month you can win chipboard frames! After getting the images finished I just knew I needed to use my flower embossing folder to make the background, and it worked great with acetate too.
Todays card is all about those balloons, I even have a little mini tutorial on how to colour them with copic alcohol markers. And if you want to play along these balloons are free at the moment over at the Little Miss Muffet Stamp Facebook Group. So no excuses, just come and play along with us!
I have a different kind of post/video today, today is a colouring tutorial where we zoom in on the eyes, and I show you my preferred technique of colouring eyes on my stamped images. This tutorial was asked by Chayne over at my youtube channel, and I thought it was time to actually do some more in-depth tutorials. So this is the first one out, the video below is all in real time and I will go through colouring the iris but also some tips on how to colour the pupil and shading the whites. Hope you enjoy the video.
So after playing with the rainbow yesterday, I remembered the human rainbow. So I decided that todays card I would play around with other ethnicities, so I chosed people with african assent. I chosed to use Kayla by Little Miss Muffet Stamps as she is a Polka Dot Pal and they only come with pupils and eyebrows which gave me the opportunity to sketch my own and make them fit for any kind of person. In the video below I’ll go through a couple of tips of sketching but also how I’ve chosen colours using the Hexagonal Chart for my colour scheme, also that If you want some help in choosing different skin colors you can get the free The Human Rainbow Chart from Sandy Allnocks webpage. I also show you how I put the whole card together.
